Fabric Choice
Sport a la Mode's womens hats are available in a variety of carefully chosen fabrics including canvas, loose weave, microfibre and poly-straw. Canvas is a closely woven fabric that may be packed and crushed, whilst always retaining its shape. Loose weave is a lightweight woven fabric that looks like linen. Poly-straw has the look of straw in a breathable. crushable polyester knit. Our lady rain hats are constructed from microfibre which is a synthetic, lightweight 100% polyester fabric, and is both water repellent and quick drying. Our ladies sun hats and rain hats retain their vibrant look and feel by handwashing cold using a mild liquid hand soap and then air drying.

UV Protection from UPF 50+ Fabrics
Many of these womens fashion hats incorporate UV sun protection to the UPF 50+ rating. Sport a la Mode is now a leading retailer for new and effective ways to protect you from the sun's harmful rays. UPF 50+ fabrics are tested by the Australian Radiation Protection Agency and block 97.5% of the sun's ultaviolet rays. Ultaviolet radiation, or UV, is present in sunlight, and the Ultraviolet Protection Factor shows how well a fabric protects your skin from solar UV. However, these hats only protect the skin they are covering, and you must safeguard the rest of your body by wearing sunglasses and sunscreen.
